The Crock Pot 32041-C 16 Ounce Little Dipper Review is about a small versatile kitchen helper. After learning how this cute little guy is reported to deliver the perfect dish of steel cut oatmeal I’m going to buy one of these for my sister’s kitchen. My sister is handicapped and unable to stand for long periods needed while cooking.

PotCrock Pot Little Dipper User Manual

Currently she’s getting in-home care from Visiting Angel’s and often times will ask her caregivers to make steel cut oatmeal. If I’m staying overnight with her she always wants me to make it for us also.

On the days when she’s alone I bet she’d easily manage the steps needed and could enjoy oatmeal every day. She’d also benefit from feeling independent by making it herself!

Although the job of this little food warmer is for heating dips, sauces, warming maple syrup and making fondue some folks are using it to perform a few other tasks.

Let’s take a closer look at it.

Capacity

It holds 1 to 1 ½ cups and it is recommended the crock not be overfilled . When empty it’s very lightweight and weighs in at 2.5 pounds.

Crock Pot 32041-C 16 Ounce Little Dipper Basic Features

This model comes with a fixed black stoneware insert so it’s not removable. The exterior is made of stainless steel and will get hot when heated so always remember to wear oven mitts when moving it.

It cannot be used in the microwave or in the oven.

The power cord has a polarized plug which means one blade is wider than the other and can only fit into the socket one way. The power cord is 24 inches long for safety. If an extension is needed care should be taken so the cord is safely out of the way so no on trips over it.

The unit should heat to a peak temperature of 160 degrees fahrenheit or 71.11 degrees celsisu according to the representative I spoke with. The representative was unaware how long it would take to cook oatmeal and suggested some trial and error may be needed at first until you’re familiar with it. Keep the appliance at least 6 inches away from walls and set it on a trivet as it will get hot.

The stoneware could crack if exposed to sudden temperatures. Avoid putting cold ingredients into the heated pot. Always allow the heated unit to cool before washing.

This model is not designed to be used to cook raw meat. The Crock-Pot logo and product name is displayed in black on the front of the unit.

Controls

No control knob or temperature settings are needed on this unit. Simply plug the power cord into an electrical socket and it will start to heat. Ingredients will reach 160 degrees in approximately 30-60 minutes depending on the temperature your ingredients are to begin with. The unit will continue to remain heated until you unplug it.

Take note that it does not have an ON / OFF setting and it will not automatic shut off. There’s no indicator light to alert you the unit is on. Remember to always pull the plug from the electrical socket when you want to stop the heating process or you may find your ingredients most likely dried out and have s caked on mess that will require soaking.

It carries a 3 year extended manufacture warranty from the date of purchase.

Cooking Modes

This model has one cooking mode that begins when the unit is plugged into an electrical socket. When I talked with the friendly Crock Pot rep she advised that food would need to be stirred occasionally to prevent scorching or burning.

Lid

The opaque black plastic lid fits securely on the base and has an easy grip handle at the top. The lid cannot be latched tightly to the base so care is needed if traveling with the filled crock. Setting your filled crock pot inside a cooler, secured with large rubber bands around the lid and base will help you get your dip safely to it’s destination.

Size/Shape/Dimensions

The shape is round. The unit is 5 inches high and 7 inches wide.

Accessories

There’s an Owners Guide that contains 5 recipes for warm dip inside the box. No extra accessories are included.

Crock

Pros

This model is small so it takes up very little space. It’s lightweight and easy to carry and is perfect to warm up a serving for one. The sleek stainless steel finish and black stoneware blends in well with most styles of dishes when serving from it.

Cons

The non-removable insert can be tricky to clean. There’s no light to indicate the unit is on. It may be too small if you wish to serve a warm dip for a large crowd. The food will burn if not stirred occasionally or left plugged in and left unwatched.

Crock Pot 32041-C 16 Ounce Little Dipper Consumer Reviews

This diminutive crock pot is made for keeping sauces, gravy and dips warm or melting chocolate for fondue. What caught my attention were the many consumer’s who left an online review commenting how it’s great for making the perfect bowl of steel cut oatmeal for breakfast or heating up a bowl of soup at work.

It’s small enough that it can easily be taken to the office or on the road so you could enjoy a hearty dish of oatmeal. A can of soup could be easily heated in your hotel room if the room doesn’t have a microwave.

Other’s commented in their review they had good success with using it can as an air infuser. It was recommended to leave it uncovered and then add water and sliced fresh citrus or a favorite mix of kitchen spice’s or extract.

A few reviews commented that their unit got too hot and the contents started to boil. According to the Crock Pot Representative this does happen so remember to stir it occasionally or unplug it for a bit.

Some felt it was too small for parties or families. I feel this would depend on what you are serving and how many guests you plan to serve.

It’s not made to serve a main dish and not designed to use for recipes starting with uncooked meats. If your recipe calls for any raw meat products you must fully cook the meat before adding it to your warm dip ingredients.

Crock Pot 32041-C 16 Ounce Little Dipper Price

The price of this unit is very affordable for most everybody.

Cleaning/Care

The body of this appliance cannot be washed in the dishwasher and cannot be immersed in water. To clean stubborn stuck on food fill it with warm soapy water and let it set for a bit. Later rinse well and dry with a soft towel.

Clean the outside base with a warm soapy dishrag then towel dry. Do not use abrasive scrubbers as they may scratch the stainless steel finish. The plastic lid is dishwasher safe or can be washed by hand.

Crock Pot 32041-C 16 Ounce Little Dipper Review Summary

As I pulled together data for my Crock Pot 32041-C 16 Ounce Little Dipper review I learned overall consumer’s are very satisfied when using it for its intended purpose – heating and serving dips, gravy and sauces or melting chocolate for fondue. But many folks have found you can make a perfect sized serving of healthy steel cut oatmeal to get you going in the morning. As I mentioned above it can also be used to scent the air in your home with your favorite potpourri. Even warming mulled cider during the holidays would freshen the air with a holiday scent at very little cost.

Some folks who are into jewelry making have found the size to be perfect to hold the solution needed to pickle their jewelry pieces.

*A word of caution: The outside base is made of stainless steel. The pickle solution creates a chemical reaction with stainless steel. Any splashes on the stainless steel base will damage the base and possibly ruin your piece of jewelry.

Please be very careful if you decide to use this unit for this process in your jewelry making. In one online review the user claimed he’d used his pot for this process and it exploded in his workshop! He found pickle solution all over his workbench and on some tools. It even ruined his LCD TV! He also suggested drilling a small hole into the lid to help relieve any pressure that may build up if you decide to use this model to pickle your jewelry.

**A friendly reminder:
NEVER use the same unit for warming / serving food and jewelry making!

Jewelry Makers: be aware that the same model can be found online being sold as a pickle pot. In some cases it’s being sold for double the price and it’s the exact same unit! Always do a price comparison. We all work hard for our money and want it find the best value.

This little food warmer makes a great gift for the college student heading off to live in a dorm. In the morning your student can enjoy a hot breakfast and in the evening enjoy warm cheesy nacho dip to go along with those chips while hanging out with friends. It’s a prefect hostess gift for anyone who loves to entertain. It’s handy for someone who has trouble standing at the stove for the time it takes to make hot cereal, as is the case with my sister.
